Let's be clear: the script definitely had some questionable dialogue choices. But honestly, in terms of plot, I really don't think this movie is any weaker than Thor or The Avengers. In fact, the more familiar you are with Amanda Waller's character, the more the plot makes sense.
Having a supervillain go rogue and then employing more supervillains to clean up the resulting mess is pretty much classic Waller
Again, I will state my love for the scene where Batman rescues Harley from drowning. Love it. And I finally listened to the full version of Harley's theme-- "You Don't Own Me" By Grace-- and it has some tremendous vocals.
More on the Joker and Harley:
1. I didn't notice before, but in the scene at the bar, Harley mentions something along the lines of, "We're [the team] not normal. 'Normal' is a setting on the dryer. In the fantasy the Enchantress gives her where she and the Joker are normal and have two children, Harley can be seen pressing the 'Normal' setting on an appliance.
2.When Harley jumps into the acid vat, the Joker initially turns to walk away, but then he turns back and dives in to save her. It seems like he was planning on letting her die, but then changed his mind at the last minute. This could be a sign that the Joker truly does care about her, but I think it's more likely he realized that with her extreme level of devotion to him, she was more useful alive rather than dead.
Overall, this movie is very visually interesting and easy to get into. It's certainly not perfect, but I prefer it over any of the other superhero films of the past three years.
