I am absolutely in love with this show for reasons, but I completely understand where you're coming from. With what you've written about here, plus other things that they've apparently changed about other characters (I'm not sure how much you know, so don't want to spoil you), the characterization on this show is really frustrating. Maybe it's naive of me, but I'm very hopeful that with a gay showrunner and at least one gay writer (probably more) that the LGBTQ characters' development will improve. Pilots are pretty much always bad, so I'm willing to give it some slack, at least for now.
